On this unit we will be working on Surrealism and Surrealist poetry as well as Magic Realism and Latin American Literature..  You will be required to maintain focus during class as we
discuss Surrealist images.  Please view the powerpoint as it has a definition of surrealism.  This should help you with any assignments. 
You will be required to write a surrealist poem and email it to me, as well as one poem on magical realism.   The Cat documents has poems by Pablo
Neruda to help you with magical realism.  The Neruda Power Point will also help you with Magical Realism and Latin American Literature.

March 1st we read students' surreal and abstract poem and analyzed them choosing the best parts of individual poems.  Your assignment was to fill out the rubric called Poetry Analysis and turn this in during class.

March 4 - We will be reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's short story, The Most Handsomest Drowned Man in the World.  Using a worksheet to take notes on examples of magical realism you will be required to write a paragraph on why this short story is a good example of magical realism.  The paragraph will be due Wednesday, March 6th.

March 11  Your Latin American Authors Study Grid is due.  Make sure you answer the summary question on page 2.
