We are beginning a new unit on Latin American authors. We will be focusing on genre of magic realism. The authors we will be reading include: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Borges, Isabel Allende and Pablo Neruda. Please keep up with the reading assignments and they are listed below.
Assignment #1: Read and annotate Pablo Neruda's two poems. Look for abstract nouns and figurative language.
Read: A Dog Has Died and Cat's Dream.
Recognize an abstract noun when you see one.
Nouns name people, places, and things. One class of nouns is abstract. Your five senses cannot detect this group of nouns. You cannot see them, hear them, smell them, taste them, or feel them.
