For the next few week we will be reading a variety of stories concerning African Literature. These texts will inform us how Africa has a vibrant and rich literary scene. Beginning with Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and studying how Western colonialism has shaped African culture, we will hope to learn how important African literature is to the West. There will also be Wikis to answer throughout this unit on African Literature.
Your first assignment will be to decipher Rudyard Kipling's poem, White Man's Burden. You can find the poem in the Chinua Achebe Student Guide. Annotate the poem by Wednesday, November 7th.
